The Sea to Shining Sea team participated in the traditional “wheel dip” in San Francisco Bay, not far from the Golden Gate Bridge. The “wheel dip” involves dipping the back tire of each athlete’s bike in the water of the Pacific Ocean.
When the team arrives in Virginia Beach on July 28, each athlete will dip their front tire in the water of the Atlantic Ocean.
